Frequently Asked Questions

Question Answer
Can I use FunPix Mail with web mail services such as Yahoo Mail, Gmail, and Hotmail? Messages sent from FunPix Mail can be read by most email programs and web mail services. However, there are some limitations:
  • FunPix Mail is not a web browser and cannot send or receive messages through web mail accounts. We recommend that your child use the email account provided by your Internet Service Provider, which will have standard email servers that FunPix Mail can use. You can continue to use your web browser to access your web mail.
  • Some web mail providers offer direct access to their mail servers, and others don't. See the server list for details. Gmail requires some additional setup on your Gmail account to enable POP access, and Yahoo requires a premium subscription.
  • As of this writing, Yahoo Mail and Gmail do not display messages that include images correctly when viewing them through the web. They move all of the images into the attachment area, and the message area only contains the image name. This is very confusing to readers of your messages. Other web mail services don't exhibit this behavior. Keep this in mind when emailing Yahoo and Gmail users who don't use FunPix Mail.
  • Alternatively, email accounts are available through 229 Software's online store. When signing up, you'll get an email address at funpixmail.com and easy, one-click setup within FunPix Mail.

I send messages through Gmail but they never arrive. The messages bounce back to my Gmail inbox with an error that reads: PERM_FAILURE: Message rejected for Sector 5 policy reasons. What does this mean? You'll have to ask Google. Many people, using many different email programs, are experiencing this problem. Try the Gmail help page.
There are messages in the Inbox but they don't display. Why not? Some anti-virus software (such as AVG) modifies incoming and outgoing emails to indicate that they have been scanned for viruses. This can interefere with FunPix Mail's processing of the messages. In your anti-virus software, turn off the options to "Certify Incoming Mail" and "Certify Outgoing Mail".
When checking for new mail, the program shows that it is receiving 8 messages, but only one shows up. Why? FunPix Mail only downloads messages that come from other FunPix Mail users. To screen the messages, FunPix Mail examines part of each message, and if it's OK, downloads the complete message. The progress window shows the messages being screened, and at the end, it tells you the number that were actually downloaded.
How can I get back a standard sticker or sticker category that I accidentally deleted? Choose Setup > Install Sticker Pack, and select the file
C:\Program Files\FunPix Mail\default.spk.
This will reinstall all of the default stickers and sticker categories.
